About the Author

Sapna Bhat is a speech and language therapist and researcher by profession having spent the last 25 years helping people find their voices. She has published many academic works in research journals and books. Being a Kashmiri, she carries stories of Kashmir wherever she goes. This book is her first work of fiction and an effort to give a voice to stories of her community that have been buried for long. Her writing envisions to portray the many ways people find, lose, and reclaim their voices amid the echoes of Kashmir.
Sunayana Kachroo Bhide is an award-winning producer, film writer, poet, lyricist, and columnist whose repertoire beautifully bridges cinema and poetry. She has collaborated with illustrious artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Ali Sethi, and Anuradha Palakurthi, weaving words that echo with emotion and depth. Her notable writing credits include co-writing the screenplay and dialogues for acclaimed films like The Illegal and the musical Songs of Paradise. She led an ensemble of Kashmiri artists at the Mahakumbh 2025, celebrating the soul of her heritage through art. A published author and poet, Ms. Kachroo has graced esteemed venues such as the US Capitol and Harvard University, with her lyrical works featured in Rolling Stone and by the National Parks Service-testament to her voice that transcends borders and genres.
